Newspaper Station

At this literacy station, students are exposed to newspapers. They learn the format of a newspaper and the many different types of articles that can be found in a newspaper. Below you will find some links to worksheets used in this literacy station.

At this station, children practice their fluency and comprehension skills. Students read poems, write poems, and make inferences about poems.

Most centers incorporate some kind of reading comprehension practice.  At literacy stations, I like to focus on the comprehension skill we learned the week before so that the students can reinforce their knowledge of it through continued practice. I also love to use graphic organizers for this particular center which the students can apply to either the chapter books they have been reading or non-fiction articles and texts.
